This is pure Irish honey straight from the hive with minimal filtering, local honey from your local beekeeper.

• Delicious pure Irish honey produced by bees living happily in the suburbs of Dublin, Ireland.
• Our award-winning honey is multi-floral, the taste changing from year to year depending on what the bees have foraged.
• Pure Irish honey straight from the hive with minimal filtering.
• We manage our hives sustainably, only removing the surplus honey at the end of the season.
• We always leave enough honey for the bees to have food during the times when there may not be anything to forage on or the weather may be too cold to leave the hive.
• Pure honey may crystallize or granulate after time. This is a natural occurrence and in fact a proof that it is indeed pure unadulterated honey. You can gently heat it to return it to its liquid state.

Did you know? Irish honey, especially multi-floral honeys produced by urban bees have a greater level of antioxidant phenolic compounds than their rural counterparts, a finding possibly due to the flower diversity and abundance surrounding hives. Irish research found a similar overall presence of powerful antioxidants called phenolic compounds in Irish heather honey as has been found in manuka honey. Some more information about our handmade pure Irish Beeswax Candles:

When we remove the surplus honey frames from our beehives at the end of the summer, the honeycomb has already been capped by the honeybees with a beautiful covering of beeswax to keep it clean and safe.

In order to extract the liquid honey from the frames we first remove the beeswax with a special knife and put the beeswax aside to melt down and clean at a later stage.

This beeswax needs to be melted and filtered a number of times to ensure that it is sufficiently clean to use for making beeswax wraps, candles or balm.

Time consuming but so rewarding to see the beautiful block of clean, fragrant beeswax at the end!
